A client brought in a legacy Windows XP machine that is essential for operating proprietary software incompatible with modern operating systems. Following a power outage, the computer began blue-screening and would no longer boot.
Upon diagnosis, we traced the root cause to a depleted CMOS battery, which caused the BIOS to lose its boot configuration every time the system lost power. We installed a replacement battery and reconfigured the BIOS settings. The workstation is now booting reliably and back to full operation.
